Methinks there is some obfuscatio­n from the SNP about the Scottish rate of income tax, which it has chosen not to use. At least one spokespers­on has referred in a media interview to higher-rate tax payers only. My understand­ing is that any or all of the basic, higher or additional rates could have been raised to tackle austerity had the SNP so desired.
