Founder of IS news agency ‘ killed’

T h e f o u n d e r o f t h e I s l a mi c State group’s news agency was killed with his daughter in an airstrike last week in eastern Syria, opposition activists said.

The militant group itself has not reported the death of the Aamaq agency founder, Baraa Kadek.

A c t i v i s t s s a i d K a d e k wa s close to the IS leadership, gaining their trust and reportedly meeting with the enigmatic leader Abu Bakr al- Baghdadi.

K a d e k ’s b r o t h e r, H o z a i f a , a n d f o r mer f r i e n d s r e p o r t - ed his death, saying he died when a suspected airstrike by the US- led internatio­nal coalition fighting IS hit his home in the town of Mayadeen in Deir el- Zour province. The brother posted the announceme­nt on his Facebook page.

A f o r m e r c o l l e a g u e s a i d Kadek and his daughter and wife were wounded in an airstrike last Friday and that he died of his wounds on Wednesday.
