Warning issued over counterfeit banknotes
Businesses in the Scottish Borders have been urged to be extra vigilant following a series of recent incidents where counterfeit currency was used as payment.
Since 1 June there have been over ten reports of fake notes being used at premises throughout the region with stores in Hawick, Jedburgh and Galashiels targeted.
On each occasion, the notes appeared to be high quality and legitimate. The notes used in the incidents are Bank of Ireland and Bank of Ulster £20 notes.
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.
