Group B legends to do battle in Glasgow

-

Five of the biggest names in rallying history are set to go head to head on track in Scotland later this year at the Ignition motoring festival.

Markku Alén, Miki Biasion, Stig Blomqvist, Timo Salonen and Ari Vatanen (inset), were the cream of the crop during the sport’s notorious Group B era and will be bringing their skills and legendary cars to Glasgow in August.

The ‘Rally Gods’ will once again strap themselves into their outrageous Group B cars throughout the weekend to showcase them for the crowds. They will also be pitting their considerable skills against each other in modern sports cars. As part of the on-track action they will participate in a timed street stage shoot out around Ignitions purpose-created road circuit.

Fans will also be able to meet the rally legends at a series of autograph sessions during the festival.

Festival director Cat Stanford commented: “We are hugely honoured to be welcoming five of rallying’s greatest names to Ignition.

“Scotland has an incredible motor sport history and the presence of these rally gods and their idolised Group B cars is going to be one of the standout highlights of this year’s bigger, faster and louder show.”

The Ignition festival takes place at Glasgow’s SECC from 4-6 August and will feature static displays, live track driving, stunt shows and a ride and drive zone that will give visitors the chance to test their own skills at the wheel.
