Man ‘pushed to his death’ under tram

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was pushed in front of a moving tram, police have said.

Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to Victoria station in the city centre just after 7:50pm on Sunday after the man was pushed from the platform.

Emergency services attended but the man, believed to be in his 30s, died at the scene.

A 31-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and remains in custody.

Police described the incident as “a tragic event”.
