Stamp of approval: Historic Dumfries watermill features on new Royal Mail collection
New Dumfries and Galloway MP Alister Jack visits the New Abbey Corn Mill which features on a new set of stamps issued by the Royal Mail. The fully restored mill in the village of New Abbey was built towards the end of the 18th century and offers an insight into Scottish rural life. It is believed Cistercian monks first built a mill at the site as early as the late 13th century when they established their monastery in the village. The new set of stamps celebrates the Windmills and Watermills of the UK.
