Junker calls parliament ‘ridiculous’
The President of the European Commission called the European parliament “ridiculous” during a row over low MEP attendance.
Jean-claude Juncker said parliament was “not serious” after only a few dozen of the 700-plus MEPS turned up for the keynote debate of the day.
EU Parliament President Antonio Tajani rebuked Mr Juncker and asked for “a more respectful attitude”, adding: “It is the parliament that should be controlling the commission.”
Mr Juncker replied: “There are only a few members in the parliament to control the commission. You are ridiculous.”
