Scottish ministers want to launch a formal dispute with the UK Government over the £1 billion DUP deal as Nicola Sturgeon feels that Scotland should be getting more money too. Is this desired extra money therefore to come from the same source she and her Scottish National Party colleagues are so desperately trying to convince Scots to cut off?

The SNP seem to value Westminster when it suits them. The Scottish Government do not seem either capable or agreeable to using their own tax-raising powers so are taking every opportunity to remove money from English taxpayers instead. Scotland either stands on its own two feet or not. Falsely propping up the Scottish economy with money from England is not the right way to go about it.

This just shows up the Scottish National Party as being rather second rate when it comes to economic policy. Is independence really such a good idea? (DR) GERALD EDWARDS
