Driver reported after man dies in road collision

A man has died after a twocar crash in South Ayrshire.

The incident happened on Sunday at about 2:05am on the A70 at Coylton.

A 76-year-old man who had been driving a Ford Mondeo was taken to Ayr Hospital with serious injuries but died a short time later.

A 34-year-old man, who had been driving a Range Rover, has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

Police want to trace a member of the public who helped the injured man following the crash.
