470 jobs at East Kilbride call centre

- By GRAEME MURRAY

Nearly 500 jobs are to be created at a call centre in South Lanarkshire.

AGO Outsourcing has announced it will create 470 new jobs at its base in East Kilbride.

The jobs are said to be part of a £40 million, five-year investment package which managers say shows the threat of contact centre posts moving abroad are a thing of the past.

The company promises 90 new roles in its sales division in the first phase at Orbital House in Peel Park, followed by a second phase in early 2018 when an extra 380 jobs will follow in its customer service and sales divisions.

The firm says it provides an “overflow” service for the energy, telecommunication and financial services sectors.
