Smart meters control costs, say users

- By JANE BRADLEY

More than 80 per cent of Scots who have had smart meters installed in their homes say it has helped them control their spending on energy, a survey has found.

A poll of people who have had the meters installed found that 84 per cent of people in Scotland with a smart meter have a better idea of what they are spending on energy, while 76 per cent say they feel in control of the energy they use.

Smart energy meters are being installed in homes and small businesses across Britain.

The report, from Smart Energy GB, found that almost everyone in Scotland is aware of smart meters, while more than half of those who do not have a smart meter would like to have one installed in the next six months.
