St Johnstone Optimists proved right
Unlike prior to the European ties, our supporters seemed optimistic before the league opener at Kilmarnock. Some early season rustiness by players and officials played a part in an otherwise entertaining game.
The pitch once again proved to be a challenging surface. Only being watered from the centre circle appeared to create difficulties in judging the pace of the ball from the watered part of the pitch to the dry areas.
There were some outstanding highlights, in particular both goals. A revitalised and confident Spoony was a joy to watch. Michael O’halloran’s goal in front of the Saints support was an absolute peach of a finish. Nothing beats a late winner. Welcome home, Mikey.
