Blockbusters such as Beauty And The Beast and a refurbishment programme helped profits surge at Cineworld in the first half. The cinema chain saw revenue rise 17.8 per cent to £420.2 million in the six months to 30 June, while pretax profit increased 57.5 per cent to £48.2m. Admissions rose 10 per cent to some 50 million as Cineworld said customers had “embraced” revamps.
