St Mirren 11-year hoodoo broken

-

St Mirren manager Jack Ross and assistant James Fowler celebrated their three-year contract extensions with an opening-day 3-1 home win over Falkirk. It was the first time the Buddies have won on day one since taking maximum points at Inverness in August 2006.

After falling behind early, fans favourite Stelios equalised before the break. Less than two minutes after the restart Cammy Smith put the hosts ahead before league debutant Gavin Reilly wrapped up the game with an outstanding solo effort with 21 minutes remaining. Saints supporters are now looking forward to heading to Greenock to take on bitter Renfrewshire derby rivals Morton looking to make it two wins from two in the Championship.
