PRODUCT REVIEW: ALCOSENSE PRO

- STEVEN CHISHOLM

£149.99RRP

Built using a smaller version of the sensor used by UK police forces — the Alcosense Pro Breathalyser is marketed as the perfect tool for peace of mind the morning after.

With a whole host of tech to ensure it’s as accurate as possible, packed into a phone-sized package, the Alcosense Pro includes a breath ‘coach’ to eliminate ‘under reading’.

I trialled our test model the morning after, and the breath coach informed me my first attempt was too hard and my second ‘too soft’. The third though was just right — and it returned the over-the-limit result I was expecting.

As well as registering my blood alcohol level in mg/l, the colour coding left little doubt and I was advised how many hours I would need to wait before driving. A further test later in the day showed that this estimate was pretty accurate.

The best feature is that the top-of-the-range Alcosense Pro stores every legal limit in the world, so you just have to select the country you are in at the time and away you go — just in time for the holidays.
