All at sea
The Nationalists in Scotland have chosen to ignore the launch, and now introduction, to service of the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth. No word of praise, not a cheep, from Nicola Sturgeon or any of the SNP leaders, for the skill and dedication of the many thousands of Scots workers involved in the construction. It merited not a mention.
Apart from its value to the UK’S defence as the biggest warship ever built, it has provided employment and security for many thousands and, with the frigate building programme now ongoing, it brings the latest and most modern technology to a new generation of Scots in an employment wilderness.
Perhaps what keeps the SNP unusually silent is the painful (for the SNP) fact that should the UK be broken up all this Navy building would abruptcampaigning ly stop and go to yards south of the Border.
