- By CRAIG P STEWART

Stranraer and Ayr United meet for the first time since the Honest Men secured promotion to the Championship through a penalty shootout in the Play-off final of May 2016. Ayr returned to League 1 after just one season but are already showing the form that could secure promotion again.

Manager Ian Mccall reckons the Stair Park hosts are also contenders, saying: “Stranraer have a strong squad and they’ll be in the mix.”

Raith Rovers will look to continue winning back the hearts and minds of their fans by seeing off Forfar at Stark’s Park, with manager Barry Smith saying: “The more wins we get the more confidence we will have about the place.”

Arbroath entertain East Fife, with home manager Dick Campbell saying: “We lost 2-0 to Dunfermline in midweek but it was a good performance, and it is a case of same again.”

The Lanarkshire derby between Albion Rovers and Airdrie sees the Coatbridge hosts in the unusual position of being favourites, but manager Brian Kerr warned: “It does not matter once the first whistle goes.”

Alloa and Queen’s Park meet at the Indodrill Stadium with both sides looking for their first league win.

Wasps boss Jim Goodwin said: “We scored four goals and won against Dundee’s under-20s in midweek. That has given us a lift.”
