Boy, 16, arrested and charged over assault

A 16-year-old male has been charged following a serious assault in Mayfield.

The incident happened at about 9:25pm on Friday 4 August, when a 15-yearold boy was assaulted in the area’s Buckie Road. The 16-year-old was detained following a planned operation on Friday 18 August.

He was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday. Chief Inspector Kenny Simpson, Area Commander for Midlothian, said: “I would like to thank those members of the public who assisted us with our investigation, their information has been key.”
