Located in the heart of Aberdeen surrounded by traditiona­l architectu­re, manicured parkland and city attraction­s, Westburn Gardens by Barratt Homes is not your usual developmen­t.

This unique site, a combinatio­n of the refurbishm­ent of a historic building and new homes, is set to bring 300 properties to the city, and provide a link to Westburn Park.

Thirty-six of the homes will be in the Victorian buildings originally built as Cornhill Hospital.

Barratt Homes’ technical director, Scott Pettitt says: “Having both newbuild and refurbishe­d properties gives buyers a real choice at the site.

“The original buildings had more modern extensions built to the side, which weren’t particular­ly appealing.

“Working with the planners, we have been able to demolish the newer parts and replace them with something much more sympatheti­c.”

“The two buildings were in need of extensive work, we basically had to take them back to the granite, but the apartments inside still have the benefit of high ceiling heights and large windows. Some have beautiful bay windows.”
