Fowler aims to leapfrog the leaders

St Mirren aim to let leaders Dundee United know they will not have things all their own way in the Championsh­ip by defeating them in Paisley this afternoon.

Assistant manager James Fowler said: “We are facing the favourites for the title but we have the opportunit­y to lay a marker down and goabovethe­minthetabl­e.”

United manager Ray Mckinnon said: “St Mirren have a great blend of youth and experience. This will be a tough test.”

Brechin City manager Darren Dods hopes the size of the Glebe Park pitch will catch out Inverness Caledonian Thistle .Hesaid:“i hope that coming here will be a culture shock for some of their players and we can take advantage.”

Queen of the South manager Gary Naysmith is not taken in by Falkirk’s slow start. He said “They are in is a false position. They started last season slowly as well but finished second top. Hopefully we can keep their recovery waiting for another week.”

Morton manager Jim Duffy is not interested in talk of revenge against Livingston after the Lions’ 2-0 Irn-bru Cup success at Cappielow. He said: “First and foremost I want to see a Morton team I recognise in this game.” Dumbarton boss Stephen Aitken said of visitors Dunfermlin­e: “They will be one of the favourites for promotion. However, as the home side, we have to use that to our advantage.”
