Ransomware behind NHS cyber attack
Ransom ware was used to launcha cyber attack on a health board which led to some appointments and procedures being cancelled, it has been confirmed.
NHS Lanarkshire said a new variant of Bitpaymer was to blame for the problems that affected its network on Friday.
The board said staff worked over the weekend to ensure the recovery of IT systems.
Work is continuing to establish how the malware was able to infiltrate the network without being detected.
