Roberts return / Manchester City winger gets his way with new Celtic loan deal

Patrick Roberts finally clinched his return to Celtic last night and hailed manager Brendan Rodgers as the most significan­t influence in his desire to rejoin the Scottish champions, writes Stephen Halliday.

The Manchester City winger was pictured leaving Celtic Park after his medical and the club announced soon afterwards that he had signed a season- long loan deal.

He will now be looking torepeat the success he enjoyed during his first 18- month loan at Celtic.

Roberts had several other options for this campaign and parent club City were keen for him to go to another Premier League side or Europe but the 20- year- old Englishman dug his heels infor another spell with Celtic wherehe feels his developmen­t will be best served under Rodgers.
