Bridge sees house prices booming

- By ANGUS HOWARTH

Homes in South Queensferry have experienced some of the largest increase in average house prices as the new Queensferry Crossing has taken shape.

Data from ESPC shows the average price of a three-bed house rose from £193,333 in March 2016 to £221,139 in May this year – a hike of 14.4 per cent.

Across Edinburgh, house prices have seen a 4 per cent rise.

Maria Botha-lopez, business analyst for ESPC, said pre- viously improved transport links were fuelling the boom. “We have seen houses in South Queensferry show one of the largest increases which indi- cates that the area is increasing in popularity as a commuter town for families. New transport infrastructure is often a big draw for homemovers, particularly when commuting is a consideration.

“The Queensferry Crossing has drawn interest to South Queensferry as it shows there is the opportunity for investment and infrastructure, meaning that people will consider it as an option if they are commuting. South Queensferry is an attractive small town with scenic views over the water and a quieter pace of life, and this also makes it an ideal place to raise a family.”
