(TNS won 6-5 on penalties) The New Saints knocked Livingston out of the Irnbru Cup for a second year running, the Welsh side winning 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

The hosts led on 20 minutes when Aeron Edwards headed home a Robbie Parry free-kick.

Parity was restored 19 minutes into the second half when Josh Mullin’s delightful cross was met with a glancing header by substitute Dylan Mackin.

Before extra time, Livingston’s Alan Lithgow’s 35-yard effort just cleared the bar, then Greg Draper hit the woodwork seconds after coming on. Livi’s Nikolay Todorov blew the chance to avoid penalties on 117 minutes when he thumped against the bar.

New Saints goalkeeper Paul Harrison was the shootout hero, saving from Mackin and Lithgow then scoring himself before Scott Pittman shot over the bar.
