Irma is heading to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, with category 5 winds and rains. @Nwscolumbia reported: “Ever wondered what it’s like when the eye of a hurricane passes? The Island of #Barbuda went from over 150mph winds to calm in 6 min!” @Ericholthaus tweeted: “Hurricane Irma is so strong it’s starting to show up on seisometers in the Caribbean – equipment designed to measure earthquakes.” @yungbronze said: “Pray for the Caribbean Islands who don’t have trillion dollar governments to help them recover from this Category 5 storm.” @ajhinch added: “While we recover from Hurricane Harvey, please add Puerto Rico in your prayers as families are bracing for Irma.”

#BREXIT

Brexit Secretary David Davis updated parliament on the progress of his negotiations with the EU. One or two of his points were met with some cynicism in the chamber. @Iandunt noted: “‘We made important progress…’ Labour benches start laughing.” @Carolinelucas tweeted: “Davis says he’s making ‘concrete progress’. Would hate to see what a lack of progress would look like.” @Charliecooper8 wrote: “Davis on Brexit: ‘Nobody pretended this would be simple and easy.’ I’m quite sure quite a lot of people did actually…” @Leaveeuofficial pointed out: “David Davis says: ‘EU Commission stalling is tactic to get UK money’”
