Pointless party?

Tom Peterkin (7 September) writes on the challenges facing the SNP, with their new leg- islative programme. The new programme makes little play of independence, so much so that the SNP sounds much like any other left of centre party.

If they are not promoting independence, what is the SNP for? Can believers in independence support such a party; would they not be better switching to the Greens? WILLIAM BALLANTINE
