Naismith says Mcintyre was right to cancel leave

Jason Naismith admits the Ross County squad can have no complaints after having their days off cancelled in the wake of their poor performance against Rangers.

County were due to receive some extra rest over the international break but their leave was cut short by County manager Jim Mcintyre after the 3-1 defeat on 27 August.

However, defender Naismith thinks his boss was right to call his men in for overtime after giving Rangers an easy time of it for most of the first half.

Now he has promised a reaction in today’s home Ladbrokes Premiership match against Partick Thistle. The right-back said: “We’ve been putting in some hard work since that Rangers defeat.

“We probably would have had more days off had we performed in that match the way we know we can.

“The manager was honest with us and called us in for extra work over the time we were meant to have off, and that’s fair enough.

“We’ve put a lot of work in up in Dingwall since then and now we just want to move on and hopefully get a more positive result on Saturday.”

County host a Thistle team who are bottom of the table without a single point from their four games so far.

Partick boss Alan Archibald has bolstered his defence with the signing of Paul Mcginn and could hand the 26-yearold his Jags debut today. The former Dundee defender joined up last week after being released by Chesterfield.
