POINT OF VIEW

Whilst watching The Last Night of the Proms I was jarringly reminded of the banality of the National Anthem. The obsequious plea that our “gracious and noble” monarch should long reign over us is not for me. It’s time to replace these archaic words with something more appropriate – and how about a new tune too?
