Body found on beach is missing German man

A body found on an island beach is that of a missing German man, police have confirmed.

Torsten Kulke, 48, arrived on Lewis on Friday 28 July and was last seen arriving in the Aird Uig area at about 6pm that day.

He was reported missing from his home in Germany on Monday, 31 July.

The body of a man was recovered from Cliff Beach, near Valtos, on Saturday 12 August following extensive searches. Police have now confirmed it was Mr Kulke.

Inspector Jane Nicolson said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Kulke’s family and friends.”
