Higgins out in Yushan
John Higgins was knocked out of the Yushan Open in the third round by England’s David Gilbert.
Wishaw potter Higgins, who recently won the Indian Open, was beaten 5-2.
He had initially seized the advantage with a break of 126 to go into a 2-1 lead. However, he didn’t take another frame as Gilbert raced to victory with breaks of of 82 and 132.
Gilbert said afterwards: “It’s nice to finally get a win over John. He is a great player so it is good to have that on my CV.” Glasgow’s Anthony Mcgill, however, stormed into the quarter-finals with a 5-0 thrashing of England’s Lee Walker.
