Syrian baker aims to rise further with new capacity

-

0 Taza Bake was founded two years ago by Abdullah Razzouk and now has 14 part-time staff An Edinburgh bakery that produces traditional Syrian bread is to double its manufacturing space and expand its product range as it targets significant turnover growth.

Taza Bake, based in Stewartfield in the capital, was launched two years ago by Abdullah Razzouk after he used advice from Business Gateway Edinburgh. It will expand into a second unit next door to its current bakery this month, boosting floor space to 2,200 square feet.

This will enable a second production line to open, making manakesh, traditional Syrian pies, and will house the bakery’s first shop.

Razzouk, who runs his bakery while working full-time in financial services, believes his six-figure turnover could jump by up to 70 per cent next year if current talks with two supermarkets are successful.

Noting escalating demand, he said there was a “huge market here in Scotland and I am working with Business Gateway Edinburgh to plan how best to tap into it”.
