Queen of the South Self-destruction
When you follow Queens you become accustomed to losing, as it happens fairly often. There isn’t the feeling of entitlement associated with fans of larger clubs who consider it their right to win every week. We shrug it off and move on.
The one exception, where the bad taste of a defeat tends to linger, is when we have contributed to our own downfall. Sunday’s frustrating defeat by St Mirren can definitely be filed in that category. The unfamiliar line-up that took to the field was clearly set out to stifle our hosts rather than stamp our own mark on proceedings. It was a disjointed and error-strewn performance that will hopefully highlight to the manager that we are better served focusing on our own game, and not that of the opponents.
