Elliott sidelined with broken ankle

-

He is going for a scan to find out the full damage on the ligaments, so he will be out for the foreseeable future.

“Christie has been one of the more consistent players this season and it’s a big blow on two accounts. That’s one point [the time out], but he’s also another full-back and we already have two injured and one out on loan, so it leaves us real short.”

Elliott, pictured, joins Thistle’s list of wounded, stretching their squad to the limit amid a frustrating start to the season in which they have failed to win any of their first seven games in the league. However, Archibald is confident his side’s fortunes could easily turn if they can get that first victory over the line. “I certainly hope so,” he said. “I think they [the players] have been playing well enough. There has been a lot of positivity, we’ve been scoring goals and creating chances, but we’re just at a stage where we need that second goal.

“Because we’ve not won a game, it heaps pressure on the back lads and that’s always the case.

“We’ve been here before and have a good, strong confident group of players that believe we can do that.”
