No to Neil at NT
My wife and I recently received notice that our annual membership of the National Trust for Scotland was due for renewal.
Despite having our address and membership details the Trust did not see fit to give us notice of the recent AGM. Had they done so we would have attended and objected most strongly to the election of Neil Oliver as President.
The Trust has not had its problems to seek in recent years, which makes this foolish appointment of such a divisive figure seem all the more insane and inappropriate.
It is essential that an EGM is now called, as the previous meeting was clearly improperly convocated; yet another spectacularly glaring example of mismanagement on the part of the organisation.
Oliver’s appointment should also be set aside at that meeting and other more appropriate candidates sought out and approached. I have written to the Trust in these terms, and
we will of course be withholding our membership renewal until we receive a satisfactory response.
