#TORYCONFERENCE

Florence Welch and Calvin Harris aren’t happy with the Conservatives, after Harris’ This is What You Came For and Florence and the Machine’s cover of You Got the Love were played at the Conservative Conference. Both artists asked the party to no longer play their hits. While @badwool9 joked: “Tories using a Florence & The Machine song is nearly as bad as Florence & The Machine using a Candi Staton song.” @DPD_ responded: “Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air...”

#RAILSTRIKES

For the second time this week, RMT Union members are on strike in a longrunning row with train companies over the role of the guard on a train. Staff at Greater Anglia, Mersey, Northern and Southern rail have walked out. @stuains posted: “14 hour journey with 10 changes?! Umm... think I’ll work from home tomorrow.” @jim_ johnson24 wrote: “Another day, another rail strike. I support the reason behind the strike, just not the impact on us commuters.” @Pjmardy said: “This morning: alarm didn’t go off. Train strike. Run for bus. Knee sore. Bus nearly crashes. Want to go back to bed.” @mindofkennedy joked: “Very mixed feelings about Northern Rail @Nre_northern strikes today. Maybe it’s my private sector mind that cannot understand it.” @dan_o_1989 said: “The strikes on Southern Rail have been caused by Southern management and their abysmal treatment of staff and ignoring warnings.”

#LOCALHEROES

Schoolboys Devonte, Sammy and Shawn from Hertfordshire were praised after they prevented a man from jumping off a bridge above a busy road. @Wyp_rachstorey posted: “Lovely to see some teenagers receive a positive spot of limelight. Well done boys, you probably don’t realise the magnitude of your maturity” @milotrixie2016 wrote: “Amazing young men. Young kids get such bad press but this shows what our young generation can be like. Parents must be so proud. Well done!” @mcdamzey said: “3 young gentlemen. Need to see more like them. 1/2 my age and dealt with it better than I would. Credit to themselves and their families.”
