Scottish Police Authority chairman still in post months after resigning
Concerns have been raised that the chairman of the Scottish Police Authority remains in post more than four months after announcing his resignation following a bullying row.
Andrew F lana gan succumbed to political pressure when he resigned his post in June, vowing to stay on until a successor was found.
Yesterday he welcomed the appointment of the SPA’S new chief officer Kenneth Hogg, who join son a 12- month secondment from the Scottish Government.
Scottish Conservative justice spokesman Li am Kerr said :“Andrew Flan ag an’ s departure was promised some time ago and followed a fairly lengthy and problematic period of pressure.
“It’s therefore surprising that he remains in post, more or less going on as he always did.
“For an organisation which is supposed to prioritise transparency and accountability, that’s not good enough.”
Two Holyrood committees raised concerns about Mr Flanagan’s leadership earlier this year after he was accused of bullying by former board member Moi Ali.
A Scottish Government spokesman said: “Inter views for the post of SPA chair are taking place this week. We are aiming to conclude the recruitment process as soon as possible.
“The SPA chair has agreed to stay on until his successor is appointed.”
