Chilly start to the day: Scotland wakes up to the first frost of the season

Sunrise over the Forth and Clydecanal­atwyndford­lock, North Lanarkshir­e revealed the first widespread frost of the season yesterday after the coldest night since early May.

Tulloch Bridge, in the Highlands, saw temperatur­es fall to -5C – the coldest recorded since the night of 8-9 May, when -5.1C was recorded at Shap, Cumbria.
