Bonmarché shows stylish turn of foot in earnings

Shares in Bonmarché have surged after the women’s discount retailer more than doubled half-year profits.

The stock jumped 11 per cent as pre- tax profits rose to £ 4.2 million for the six months ending in September, up from £2 mover the period last year.

Revenues climbed 5 per cent to £ 97.8 million, with the firm saying it had grown market share in a “difficult trading environmen­t”.

Proclaimin­g herself“satisfied ”, B on marché boss Helen Con nolly said :“I do not expect the clothing market to become any less challengin­g in the near future, and therefore remain focused on continuing to grow by profitably gaining market share.”
