Smokehouse firm flagging tasty takings in year ahead

0 Smoky Brae owner Graham Johnston recently attended the Small Business Saturday reception A family run Scottish smokehouse business is forecastin­g healthy growth after a “very exciting” 12 months.

Smoky Brae produces naturally smoked ingredient­s in small batches that are blended and packaged by hand.

It is looking to build on a successful year that has seen it launch seven new product lines and two gift sets, pick up awards and attend several major shows.

The firm, which is run by owner and “chief smoker” Graham Johnston, also attended a recent reception at 10 Downing Street as a result of winning Small Business Saturday UK’S Small Biz 100. It was selected as one of the businesses allowed to exhibit at the event.

Michelle Ovens, director of Small Business Saturday, said: “Small Business Saturday shines a spotlight on our local businesses to show how vitally important they are to individual communitie­s and the UK as a whole.”

There are 5.7 million small businesses across the UK.
