Woodfarm High School rises to code challenge
0 The winning team used coding to programme miniature remote-controlled 4WD vehicles A team of Scottish schoolchildren picked up the inaugural Coding World Champions Trophy at an engineering challenge event in Abu Dhabi.
Sponsorship from Brightwork, the Scots recruitment business, helped give the Woodfarm High School pupils the opportunity to compete in the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) 4X4 challenge at the Yas Marina Circuit.
“Team Docs”, from Woodfarm in East Renfrewshire, joined more than 150 young people at the F1 Circuit in the capital of the United Arab Emirates(uae)forthecompetition. There, they took home the coding challenge award, and were shortlisted for the innovative thinking trophy.
Shan Saba, director at Brightwork, which sponsored the team, said: “When we offered to sponsor the Woodfarm High School team, we wanted to encourage the uptake of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (Stem) in schools. We are hugely impressed by the incredible performance.”
