Aircraft production maintains its steep climb

0 Sections of the massive double-deck Airbus A380 superjumbo are manufactur­ed in Britain A bumper November for deliveries has put aircraft production in sight of an annual record, industry figures today reveal.

Trade organisati­on ADS said last month saw 146 aircraft delivered, pushing the running total for 2017 to 1,285.

November’s deliveries represent up to £2.8 billion in value to UK industry, taking the overall total for the year to £25bn, ADS added.

With Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier announcing major orders at the recent Dubai Airshow, order books are also above 2016 levels as the ongoing trend of rising demand around the world continues.

ADS chief executive Paul Everitt said: “Around the world the aerospace industry is benefiting from rising demand, and UK production is rising to meet it.

“The UK is playing a vital role in this success, with the aircraft delivered so far this year worth £25 billion to our economy, spreading prosperity and creating high value jobs.”
