Tulloch ramps up Central Belt presence
Inverness-based Tulloch Homes has set its sights on more sites in the Central Belt to build on a successful reentry in the region.
The firm, which describes itself as the Highlands’ largest housebuilder, said it had enjoyed “brisk” sales at its East Kilbride development.
Chief executive George Fraser said: “We withdrew from the Central Belt after the global financial downturn in 2008, but it is now an area of strategic interest for us again.
“It is our intention to begin construction on a site at Glenrothes, Fife, by the second half of 2018. In addition, we are targeting the Glasgowstirling area to identify prospective sites.”
Fraser stressed that the fresh push south was taking place on the back of a solid year for sales in the group’s Highland heartland as well as a strengthened land bank.
He added: “The Highland economy is going well, there is tourism growth and the university campus keeps expanding, creating jobs and confidence, which augurs well for the future. If there is no cliff-edge Brexit, then the Tulloch business can continue its upward curve of the last number of years.”
The firm will begin work this spring at Ness Side, Inverness, where it has recently gained planning consent for a development of 800 homes to be built over the next 15 years.
“This is our major new land bank in a desirable part of the city which benefits from the newly-opened Holm Mills Bridge”, noted Fraser. “It has taken a number of years to develop, but Ness Side promises to be a great asset.” 0 George Fraser: Looking to build in Glenrothes, Fife
