INVERNESS v FALKIRK

Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Robertson is looking for his men to believe in themselves for the entire 90 minutes against visitors Falkirk tonight.

While Paul Hartley’s side were dismantling Dundee United 6-1 on Saturday, Caley were losing 1-0 to leaders St Mirren, and Robertson reckons a lack of belief was behind the result.

Robertson said: “I was hugely disappointed with how we played in the first half.

“We sat far too deep and did not show any belief that our passing game would work. St Mirren deserved their lead, but in the second half we pushed the players further up the pitch and we were on the front foot.

“It was much better and we had chances to get level. An equaliser never came, but, if we had believed in ourselves for the 90 minutes, we may not have been behind.

“We need to show belief and, if we do that, goals will come.”

Robertson added: “Falkirk had an outstanding result at the weekend and that highlights how hard this game will be. However if we play like we can for the full game, then it is a game we can win.”

Coll Donaldson and Nathan Austin are major injury doubts, with David Raven dropping out after his contract expired.

Manager Paul Hartley said: “To win 6-1 is rare but it was an exceptional performance. The quality on display across the team was terrific and we are a team that can score goals now. That is a great sign and it was also great to see a great togetherness on the pitch.

“We simply have to take all of that with us up to Inverness. They will be tough opponents but we never gave Dundee United a minute’s peace as our pressing game was terrific, and, if we use the same approach in this game, then we are in with a good chance. It would be terrific to bring the three points down the road with us.”

Falkirk are again without Kevin O’hara, who is serving an eight-game suspension for comments made to Dunfermline’s Dean Shiels over his missing eye. Mark Kerr and Lee Miller have dropped out of Hartley’s plans, with Tony Gallacher remaining absent through injury.
