Robert Reid It’s time the SNP took responsibility for: The chaos caused by “Named Person” The chaos in Police Scotland The problems of the NHS The loss of money caused by their LBTT tax The possible loss of married couples allowance caused by

Hazel Smith The Tories take no responsibility for any of their self-promoting, self-centred, horrendous policies that have impoverished hundreds of thousands in the UK. Their greed and selfishness are the main cause of Britain’s economic and social problems today.

Sparts You cannot reasonably compare social attitudes of the 18th century with those of the 21st – hell, it’s difficult to compare some attitudes of the 20th to the 21st. By no stretch of the imagination was Burns a saint by today’s standards but that shouldn’t factor into enjoyment of his works.

Bung He was also a drunkard. In fact, quite the epitome of a modern flawed hero. The sad fact is that Scotland has so few real heroes to choose from. I suppose we can’t have Scott because he was a Tory which does not chime with “Scotland’s story”. Personally I consider Stevenson to be greater than both.
