Vilified
Am I the only person who is uneasy about the media representation of John Worboys and the related vilification of the Parole Board?
Whilst in no way an apologist for Worboys or the appalling crimes for which he stands convicted, the fact is that he has gone through the normal judicial process and the Parole Board have, at their discretion, chosen to release him, no doubt subject to stringent reporting conditions and monitoring.
It is not helpful for the media to constantly repeat that the police believe Worboys may have committed up to 100 further offences. The fact is that he has been sentenced, quite properly, on the basis of the charges for which he has been convicted and not on the basis of other speculative allegations.
Food for thought, I would suggest. DAVID EDGAR
