Oil and gas centre hails progress in first year
0 CEO Colette Cohen is optimistic about helping to unlock the full potential of the UK North Sea A technology research and development organisation based in Aberdeen is celebrating progress in its first year, with £37 million co-invested to develop and deploy new technology.
The Oil & Gas Technology Centre has co-invested the sum in more than 70 projects focused on new technology that could “transform” the future of the UK North Sea.
The centre said 200 start-ups and SMES applied for funding and support via its Techx accelerator programme, while its recent Digital Transformation “Call for Ideas” generated 68 plans on how to harness the power of big data and machine learning. The centre is also to invest about £1m in projects to identify oil and gas reserves in mature fields.
The centre’s chief executive Colette Cohen said: “I’m confident, together with industry, we can help unlock the full potential of the UK North Sea, anchor the supply chain in North-east Scotland and create a culture of innovation in the region.”
