Timberbush Tours in top gear

- By SCOTT REID

Edinburgh-based Timberbush Tours is looking to accelerate its growth after pumping £1.2 million into a fleet expansion.

The capital coach tour operator has invested the money in nine new coaches, taking its fleet up to 23 ahead of the busy holiday season.

The coaches will be used to ferry holiday makers and day trippers to destinations across the Scottish Highlands and islands, the north of England from Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as for private tours and corporate hires.

The firm has purchased a new 47-seater Man Galileo coach from Base Coach Sales, Leyland, Lancashire, with Mercedes making up the rest of the line-up – three 33-seaters purchased from Mosley Distributors, Airdrie, and two 19-seaters and three 16-seater coaches bought from Coach Traders from Whitburn, West Lothian.

Steve Spalding, chief executive of Timberbush Tours, said: “The new investment is significant for us, not least because these coaches are fitted out to our own specifications and reflect our commitment to continually refleet and replace our coaches with the most environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient vehicles available.

“Our entire coach fleet is less than three years old and this is our blueprint in an industry where a company’s ‘green’ credentials are a huge consideration for customers.

“This is something we take great pride in, having been accredited with the Green Business Tourism Scheme Gold Award and Ecostars 5 Star rating.”

Timberbush operates a wide range of coach tours including one, two, three and four-day trips and this year has added a four-day York and Lake District tour to its schedule.
