Sports Direct in shares buyback

Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct has launched a £100 million equity buyback to drive down the retailer’s share capital.

A total of 30 million ordinary shares may be bought under the programme, which is expected to run until its AGM on 5 September. Ashley has had to fend off a string of controversies surrounding Sports Direct.
