Texas bomb attacks are linked, say police

A pensioner in Austin, Texas, was yesterday injured in an explosion just hours afterapackagebombkilled a teenager and wounded a woman in a different part of the US city.

Austin-travis County emergency services tweeted that an explosion in south-east Austin injured a woman in her 70s.

Authorities have not said whether the most recent explosion was caused by a package bomb like the one which exploded earlier yesterday. But they are linkingittoasimilarbombing that killed a 39-year-old man elsewhere in the city this month.

They are investigating whether race was a factor as all the victims were black. Shortly after police chief Brian Manley held a news conference in which he linked yesterday’s attack with the 2 March incident, authorities rushed to the scene of the third blast.
