Back to their best

Winning a derby against Dundee is always special. Saturday’s win at Dens was very special. Make no mistake, the win was needed.

The fact Saints’ performance made wonderful viewing was a bonus, especially after the defeat by Killie. The only downside was the margin of victory should have been far greater.

Saints were back to their best, full of energy and commitment, playing some good football. On the few occasions Dundee threatened, a barrier of bodies blocked the way to goal. The players showed they wanted a win and a clean sheet.

Saints went for the jugular from the kick-off and bossed proceedings throughout.
